Our History Minimize

Believing that God was leading them to start a new church, a group of fifty-five met for the first time on June 14, 1979.  The church began as a mission church under the sponsorship of Second Baptist Church in Goldsboro, NC.  The first meetings were held in the Legion Hall in Pine Level, NC, but after a sudden increase in attendance, the group began renting the Barnes School in Rosewood.  The church continued to meet at the Barnes School until May 1980 when they moved to the present location.  God miraculously opened the door for Trinity to purchase a piece of land and build a new auditorium.  With God’s provision and the hard work of God’s people, the swampy land was cleared, filled, leveled, and a beautiful building erected.

In August 1979, the mission church was organized as Trinity Baptist Church and called Robert (Bob) Decker to be pastor.  Pastor Decker served from August 1979 until January 1982.  Following Brother Decker’s resignation, Trinity called Reverend James Wilhelm as their new pastor and he served until July 1982.  After Brother Wilhelm’s resignation, Trinity again called Bob Decker to serve as their pastor.  Brother Decker pastored the church until October 1992.  After Pastor Decker’s resignation, the church called Reverend Duane Rush to be their pastor.  Pastor Rush served until April 2010, when he resigned to began a new ministry of helping other ministers and ministries.  Once again, Trinity saw the miraculous hand of God in providing a pastor and on July 4, Reverend David Toulson was installed as pastor.

Trinity Baptist church is thankful for the many wonderful memories and looks forward with great anticipation to what God has in store for the future.  To God be the glory!
